Famous Directors
If I could have lunch with any three people I would have to choose three of my favorite film directors – Tim Burton, Stanley Kubrick and Sam Mendes. All three of them have inspired me to follow the career path I am pursuing, and I believe all three of them have created films that have transcended the commercial film medium into the realm of true art. Burton’s “Edward Scissorhands” is a perfect recreation of suburban paranoia mixed in with a delicate fairytale that is sure to break your heart. Kubrick’s “Shining” and “A Clockwork Orange” push boundaries for where a commercial project can really go – both equally terrifying and thought-provoking. And Mendes’s “Revolutionary Road” and “American Beauty” are both powerful examinations of ‘perfect’ suburban existence. I would love to hear how they got their start and get some pointers from them on how to achieve my career goals.
