The god of small things!
It is a booker prizewinner by Arundati Roy, an Indian writer. Though I read it about a month ago, which was the last I read a book till date, the thought of it manages to still evoke the same emotions I had when I read it. And about the thing I liked the most, it would be the way the characters get internalized once you read them. The emotions of Estha and Rahel, the protagonists, are described so vividly that they seem real. The style used in doing so can be called prosaic poetry. And the book can be viewed in two ways. One way is to be viewed as a story of Estha and Rahel, a personal saga. The other is to be viewed as a political saga, about the working of the society. This dual nature of the book makes it one of a kind. If you are wondering what to do this weekend, then do not think. Just buy yourself a copy of the book.
